Margaret H. “Peg” Schumacher, 92, a long-time Janesville resident passed away Monday morning, November 7, 2011 at the Edgerton Care Center where she had made her home in recent years. She was born in South Dakota on October 12, 1919, the daughter of Oscar and Alice (Erdman) Hagen. After the family moved to Janesville,  her father owned and operated  Hagen’s House of Fashions, a well known women’s apparel store on South Main Street for many years. Margaret married Albert Bostwick of Janesville in 1946 and he died in 1956. She was married  to the late Dr. John T. Hartman, a Janesville native from 1957 to 1964 and during their marriage, the family resided in Harlingen, Texas.  Margaret married Donald N. Schumacher on October 11, 1969. He preceded her in death on December 14, 2001.
Mrs. Schumacher was a member of First Lutheran Church.
Surviving are one son, Peter Hartman of San Francisco, CA and one daughter, Mary Alice Collins of Stockton, CA. In addition to her husbands and parents, Margaret was preceded in death by a son, John T. Hartman Jr. who died in a accident while serving in the Navy in 1989 and by her sister, Lois Harker of Beloit, WI.
Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday, November 11, 2011 at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, 1010 N. Wright Rd., Janesville. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. www.henkeclarson.com.
